  • What IS Mineshaft Mayhem?
Mineshaft Mayhem is a Drive-through haunted experience at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. Guests will be guided through the scenic, winding roadways of the fairgrounds, while our friendly characters share their stories about the recent, mysterious discoveries here, all from the comfort of your own vehicles! Enjoy the reconstructions of various elements of the life of a miner back in the 1800s, while the disturbing story of what really happened here all of those years ago begins to unfold around you. If you're one of the lucky survivors, you will have discovered the dark secrets that were buried alive in those abandoned caverns so many years ago...
  • COVID Information
Our event follows all current COVID guidelines applicable to this type of event. However, any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19 and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed while in attendance at the event. Please remain in your vehicles at all times, with your windows closed to help maintain social distancing from our staff, and to help keep monsters from hitching a ride out of the experience!
  • Is it kid and family friendly?
Yes! Mineshaft Mayhem is family friendly, although some of the action is intense, and there are some elements that may frighten younger children and many adults! Please use your own discretion when bringing small children.
  • When should I arrive?
You should plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled reservation time, so we can direct your vehicle into the correct place to meet with other vehicles booked into the same reservation slot, and to test your radio to ensure that you can hear the audio portion of the program.
  • What if I arrive late?
    Latecomers may not be admitted.
  • What should I bring with me?
Please bring your ticket, either hardcopy (we won't collect it... we just need to scan it through your window glass!) or visible on your smartphone or other device , and as many friends or family members (remember the COVID rules!) as you can safely and legally seat in your vehicle. All guests must remain in their vehicles at all times, seated in legal seating positions.
  • What if I need assistance or need to leave during the show?
In the event of an actual emergency, we can remove a vehicle from the event if necessary. However, this will disrupt several additional groups and reservation slots, and will require us to halt all shows in progress. So, please take that potty break BEFORE you arrive. Please attract the attention of any staff member if you are experiencing an emergency and need to leave. Please understand that you will not be able to re-enter the event if you leave early.
  • Are there restrooms available?
No. Guests are not permitted to leave their vehicles for safety reasons except in an emergency.
  • Are there any types of vehicles that are not permitted?
Yes, due to the physical layout of the event location, there are restrictions on vehicle length, width, and height. We cannot accommodate RVs, motor homes, vehicles with trailers, golf carts, top-down convertibles, passenger vans with more than 7 seats, buses, or unusually long vehicles such as limousines. Larger vehicles may restrict the view of other guests. All vehicles must be under 7’ in height. Vehicles with extremely low ground clearance are not recommended, as there are speed bumps and uneven driving surfaces.
  • What if it rains?
Our event may operate during light rain, but may be forced to close due to extreme weather or power outage. If this happens, we will make every effort to reschedule your group to an alternate date and time that is not already sold out. If we can’t reschedule your tickets, we will provide a refund.
  • Can I take pictures or video?
There are certainly many opportunities to take pictures during the event, but please be respectful of the other guests by NOT taking flash pictures at any time. The bright lights may spoil the event for others. Also, please help us keep the mysteries of the Mineshaft a secret! Please do not record videos during the event, or disclose any of the surprises that would ruin the event for others.
  • Are masks required?
Masks are only required if you need to exit your vehicle. HOWEVER, except in an emergency, guests are not permitted to leave their vehicles.
  • Will food or beverages be available for purchase?
No, but there are many local restaurants nearby that would be happy to see to your food and beverage needs before or after the event.
  • How long is the experience?
The experience should last 30-45 minutes, allowing for your early arrival and a timely start for your group.
  • Where can I get tickets?
Due to COVID restrictions, tickets are ONLY available Online through our website.
  • What is your refund/exchange policy?
Tickets are non-refundable. However, under certain circumstances, if WE have to cancel any reservation slot for any reason, including but not limited to changes in COVID rules, government actions or restrictions, loss of power or other emergency, or extreme weather, we will make every effort to reschedule your tickets to a different date and time. If we cannot reschedule, then we will issue a refund.
  • Do I need to print my ticket?
While we can validate your ticket by scanning in on your smartphone or other mobile device, it’s still a good idea to print out a paper copy just in case there is an issue with your device when you arrive. We won’t have any way of looking-up your reservation on-site during the event.
